As a leading medical malpractice attorney, Michael Baxter has won verdicts in several high-profile cases, including against the United States under the Federal Tort Claim Act for a delay in the diagnosis of a patient with bladder cancer, a multi-million dollar verdict on behalf of the wife and daughter of a man who died following a cardiac procedure, and most-recently, he secured the largest settlement in the firm’s history.*
The Medical Malpractice Division includes seven lawyers with a full team of paralegals, an intake coordinator/medical assistant, and two on-staff Registered Nurses who help clients navigate their claims, medical treatments, and follow-ups. “I have known Mike both as a colleague and a friend for many years,” said Stacey Yuskas, the team’s senior Legal Nurse Consultant. “We have worked hard to create a safe and compassionate environment for our clients. Mr. Baxter received his Doctor of Jurisprudence from Nova Southeastern University College of Law in 1996, and is a member of the Florida Bar Association, the Palm Beach County Bar Association, the Palm Beach County Justice Association, and the Florida Justice Association.
A Florida native, Michael Baxter began his legal career as an Assistant State Attorney in Miami-Dade County, serving as a career criminal prosecutor who tried more than 70 jury trials. He then went on to spend 16 years defending hospital and healthcare providers in medical negligence cases before joining the firm in 2015. He was named Partner in 2021 for his stellar representation of individual clients in Medical Malpractice claims.
Mr. Baxter lives in Jupiter with his wife, Helene, and are the proud parents of identical twin daughters and aspiring artists, Madisen and Maysen. A former state champion goalkeeper, Mr. Baxter enjoys competing in adult soccer tournaments around the country.
