Nelson E. Baez grew up in Florida and raised in Broward County. Nelson is Puerto Rican and fluent in Spanish. His family in Puerto Rico is deeply rooted in the practice of law, highlighted by his grandfather who managed his own firm for over 50 years and his great-grandfather who was a judge. Nelson now carries on this tradition of legal practice as he joins Lytal Reiter Smith Ivey & Fronrath.
He graduated from Stetson College of Law in 2009. While at Stetson, Nelson and his law school teammates defeated 146 other law schools to win a National Championship at the American Association for Justice, Civil Trial Competition. Also, while in law school, Nelson interned for the law office of Moreno & de la Torre Abogados, in Granada Spain, where he attended court proceedings and reviewed documents in preparation for trial. Upon graduation from Stetson Law School, Mr. Baez worked at the State Attorney?s Office in Palm Beach County for four years. He has tried over 70 jury trials as a prosecutor. Immediately prior to joining Lytal Reiter Smith Ivey & Fronrath, he served as Deputy Chief of County Court where he supervised over 30 attorneys. His responsibilities included directing attorney and law enforcement training for the court.
