Shapiro graduated from Stetson University where he received both his undergraduate (92) and law school (95) degrees. Stetson University College of Law, Florida's first law school, has long been nationally recognized as one of the top schools in the country with respect to its trial advocacy programs. Shapiro had the privilege of interning with a Federal District Court Judge while attending Stetson and received top marks from the judge for his internship work. Shapiro also clerked for several prominent law firms in the St. Petersburg and Tampa Bay area while attending law school. Shapiro has been admitted to the Florida Bar since 1995, District of Columbia Bar since 2007 and has been admitted to the Colorado Bar since 2015. Shapiro has been practicing personal injury law in Tallahassee since 1996 with a focus on car, truck, and motorcycle accident cases.
