Richard Scott Williams is a native of Rockingham County, North Carolina. He was born and raised in Reidsville, North Carolina and attended Reidsville High School. Richard graduated from Reidsville High School with honors in 2012. He completed his undergraduate studies at Cambell University in 2016, graduating cum laude with a Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice Administration Pre-Law, with a minor in Political Science. Richard went on to complete his legal studies at Elon University School of Law. In December 2018, Richard graduated cum laude from Elon University School of Law as one of the top ten students in his class. While pursuing his law degree, Richard worked with the Rockingham County District Attorney’s Office, the Guilford County Public Defender’s Office, and completed a residency with Chief Justice Mark Martin of the North Carolina Supreme Court.
After taking Bar Exam in February 2019, Richard was admitted into the practice of law in the State of North Carolina. After becoming licensed, Richard began practicing law in Harnett, Johnston, and Lee Counties, focusing his practice primarily in the areas of Domestic Relations Law and Personal Injury Law.
Being one who fosters a sense of community and equity, Richard returned home to Rockingham County in 2024, where he plans to serve and ensure that the legal needs of his community and the great residents of Rockingham County and surrounding counties are met.
At Hux & Keeney, Richard’s primary areas of practice include Personal Injury, Real Estate, Family Law, and Estate Planning and Administration. In 2025, Richard was named as one of The National Trial Lawyers’ Top 40 Under 40.Â
Richard comes from a very large family—many of whom still reside in Rockingham County. In his spare time, he enjoys spending time with family and friends, and going to concerts. He is the proud father of three furry daughters, Lily, Gweni, and LuLu.Â
