For as long as he can remember, Shane has wanted to be a force for justice and positive change in his community. As an undergraduate of Arizona State University, Shane was awarded degrees in both Political Science (summa cum laude) and Justice Studies (magna cum laude) in only three years. During that time, he was also active in his community as a volunteer for a number of important causes.
After university, Shane enrolled at Stetson University College of Law, where he had the distinction of being the only student in his law school that was too young to drink alcohol during his first year there. Perhaps because of this lack of distractions, Shane graduated with Honors in the Top 5% of his class. In addition to his academic achievements, Shane held three of the most prestigious credentials a law student can have: Senior Associate of Stetson’s Law Review, member of Stetson’s nationally top-ranked Trial Team, and member of its national-champion Moot Court Board.Â
While in law school, Shane worked at a boutique appellate firm specializing in complex litigation, products liability, and fraud-based injuries. He also worked as a Research Assistant for one of Stetson’s Corporations and Business Entities professors and volunteered his skills pro bono in the legal community on a variety of personal and economic injury matters against corporate defendants.Â
Following graduation, Shane worked as a Judicial Fellow in the Civil Division of the Sixth Judicial Circuit (Pinellas & Pasco Counties), where he forged a number of important and lasting relationships with local judges and court personnel which continue to this day. He then joined a midsize personal injury firm serving plaintiffs throughout central Florida, where he further refined his skills, engineered millions of dollars of victories for deserving clients, and handled every aspect of cases from first contact to trial.
After he’d learned all he could, Shane decided to open his own law firm to provide more personalized, hands-on service to a small number of clients who, through no fault of their own, have been harmed by the wrongdoing of powerful people or corporations. It is this mission that inspires Shane and Newlands Law Group every day.
