Shaun M. Cummings is a native Floridian and grew up in Ocala, Florida. He is admitted to practice in all Florida state courts, all Texas state courts, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eleventh Circuit, the U.S. District Court for the Middle District of Florida, the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of Florida, and the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado. He is a Board- Certified civil trial lawyer, meaning he is recognized by the Florida Bar as having the special knowledge, skills, and proficiency, as well as the character, ethics, and reputation for professionalism, in the area of civil trial law.
Shaun practices in the areas of medical malpractice, personal injury, wrongful death, and first-party residential and commercial claims. He has been recognized by Super Lawyers Magazine as a Rising Star for three consecutive years and was selected as a Top 40 Under 40 and Top 100 Lawyer by the National Trial Lawyers Association.
In 2016, Shaun was part of the trial team that won the largest contested jury verdict in Hernando County history ($42 million). As a result, he has been accepted as a life-long member in the “Multi-Million Dollar Advocates Forum,” a distinction that less than one percent (1%) of all lawyers in the country have earned.
In 2023, Shaun was lead trial counsel on a case that resulted in a jury verdict in Hillsborough County for $150 million, believed to be the largest jury verdict in that jurisdiction and a top-50 verdict nationwide for 2023.
Prior to graduating cum laude from Stetson University College of Law, Shaun served on Stetson’s Law Review and was a member of the Trial Team, which has been ranked as the nation’s #1 trial team 20 times by U.S. News and World Report. He was also the American Bar Association’s national liaison for the Law Student Division, a teaching assistant for the Honorable Judge David A. Demers (6th Judicial Circuit Court of Florida). During his third year, Shaun interned with the Honorable Judge Elizabeth A. Kovachevich (United States District Judge for the Middle District of Florida), as well as with the United States Department of Justice, Office of the U.S. Trustee. Shaun was inducted into the National Order of Barristers in 2014.
Shaun received his bachelor’s degree in political science from the University of Florida in 2011.
