Coming from a background in civil defense work, Somer began her personal injury practice in the relentless representation of women and children who were harmed by caretakers and schools. She obtained the largest jury verdict in the State for a student who was sexually abused by a public school teacher and also obtained the largest jury verdict in Louisiana under the Louisiana employment discrimination statute for a disabled employee who was discharged.
Following Hurricane Laura, Somer represented 100s of business and homeowners in her community in their insurance claims. Somer was first chair at the trial of the very first jury trial in SWLA involving Hurricane Laura and obtained a verdict that resulted in a judgment that was 50X more than the pretrial offer.
Her practice now focuses on 1st party insurance property claims as well as catastrophic injury and death cases.
Somer was named as a Louisiana Super Lawyers Rising Star from 2016-2021 and a Louisiana Super Lawyer for the past two years. She was born and raised in Lake Charles and graduated from LaGrange High School. She and her husband Aaron live in Moss Bluff with their two daughters Aly and Maggie and are active members of St. Theodore Catholic Church.
