As a first-generation American, Steven Dorfman was deeply influenced by the stories of individuals overcoming systemic challenges. From an early age, he was inspired to use the law as a powerful tool to defend and empower those facing adversity. While initially drawn to public service, Steven quickly realized that becoming a trial lawyer would provide him with the most direct way to make a meaningful difference. For him, representing injured clients goes beyond securing compensation; it’s about restoring dignity, bringing closure, and providing peace of mind.
With nearly 30 years of legal experience, Steven has earned a reputation as a passionate and results-driven advocate. He has secured countless successful outcomes, with a particular focus on construction accident cases. Notably, he represented an ironworker injured by a fallen I-beam, winning a $19 million settlement. In another high-profile case, Steven obtained a $12 million settlement for a teamster who suffered a traumatic brain injury, securing the deal before depositions were even taken. Most recently, he achieved a $29.95 million settlement for the family of a worker who tragically fell more than 40 stories to his death.
Steven’s commitment to justice extends beyond construction accidents. He obtained a $6.7 million settlement for a pedestrian struck by a bus and $5 million for another pedestrian injured in a school bus accident. He also served on the Steering Committee for the Metro-North Valhalla train accident litigation, helping secure justice for passengers affected by the tragic 2015 crossing accident.
Known for his meticulous approach to case preparation, Steven’s legal strategy is shaped by his deep commitment to understanding his clients’ needs. As the firm’s only native Spanish-speaking attorney, he is particularly attuned to the concerns of clients who may fear retaliation when asserting their rights.
Steven holds a Bachelor of Arts in International Affairs from The George Washington University and a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School. With over 35 appellate arguments to his name in New York’s appellate courts, along with extensive experience in mediations and trials, Steven has developed a reputation as a tenacious and credible advocate. He serves on the Board of Directors for the New York State Trial Lawyers Association and is honored annually as a Super Lawyers and Best Lawyers honoree. His victories have also been featured in the New York Law Journal’s "Top Verdicts in New York."
Outside the courtroom, Steven enjoys playing guitar, golfing, following the New York Giants, and cheering on Argentina’s three-time World Cup champions. He is a devoted family man who cherishes time with his wife, three daughters, and their beloved Boston Terrier.
