Stuart J. Weissman joined the firm in 2008 as an associate. He focuses his practice on catastrophic negligence and commercial disputes. He was recently recognized by the Daily Business Review for his involvement in one of the firm's medical malpractice cases where they obtained a $1.9 million judgment in the Southern District of Florida against the U.S. government who represented the Miami Veteran's Affairs Medical Center.
Mr. Weissman is a 2005 graduate of the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor. While at the University of Michigan, he was awarded the Michigan Scholar Award, a four-year academic scholarship. He was also a member of the National Dean's List, Delta Epsilon Iota National Academic Honor Society, and was recognized with the Outstanding Student Honor Society Award.
Mr. Weissman received his J.D. from Stetson University College of Law in 2008. While at Stetson, he was a two-year member of the nationally renowned trial team, ranked #1 in the nation according to U.S. News and World Report. He participated in advocacy competitions in Florida, Texas, Colorado and California.
Mr. Weissman earned recognition in the American Bar Association Student Lawyer magazine for winning first place in the American Bar Association National Arbitration Competition held in Austin, Texas. During his time at Stetson, he was also a summer clerk for the Honorable Michael J. Orlando in Broward County, Florida, and was a member of the Phi Delta Phi International Legal and Honors Fraternity.
Mr. Weissman is a member of the American Association for Justice, Florida Justice Association, Miami Dade Justice Association and Young Lawyers Division of the Florida Bar. Prior to pursuing a career as an attorney, he worked in the entertainment industry at CNBC in New Jersey and the Yankees Entertainment and Sports Network in New York City.
