Tad Thomas is the Founder and Managing Partner of Thomas Law Offices, a nationally recognized plaintiffs’ civil litigation firm that has grown under his leadership from a solo practice into a multi-state firm with offices across the Midwest. Mr. Thomas has spent more than two decades litigating complex, high-stakes civil cases, with a practice focused on catastrophic personal injury, medical malpractice, nursing home neglect and abuse, product liability, insurance bad faith, and trucking and commercial vehicle collisions. He has served in court-appointed leadership roles in major mass tort and multidistrict litigations, as well as in significant actions brought by state Attorneys General, demonstrating the trust placed in his judgment and trial skill by courts and colleagues nationwide.
His courtroom experience spans state and federal trial and appellate courts throughout the country, including admissions to multiple U.S. Courts of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States. Before expanding Thomas Law Offices into a national firm, Mr. Thomas served as Assistant Deputy Attorney General for the Commonwealth of Kentucky, one of the Attorney General’s most senior advisors. In that role, he oversaw multiple divisions comprising more than 100 attorneys, staff, and investigators, and personally handled major litigation in trial and appellate courts across Kentucky and federal jurisdictions. His tenure included leadership of the Office of Civil and Environmental Law and involvement in high-profile consumer protection, healthcare, and constitutional matters.
Mr. Thomas is widely regarded as one of the country’s leading trial lawyers and legal thought leaders. He has served as President of the American Association for Justice (AAJ)—the world’s largest organization of trial lawyers, and continues to serve on its Board of Governors and Executive Committee. He is also a Past President of the Southern Trial Lawyers Association and holds leadership positions in numerous national and state bar organizations.
