Jonathan “Tripp” Jones knows first-hand what it’s like to lose a loved one because a corporation didn’t take the necessary precautions and put profits ahead of people. Having lost his brother in the 2005 Texas City explosion, Tripp brings a unique and authentic empathy to his legal representation of others who have experienced loss.
When he’s not at work, Tripp is usually planning or executing his next adventure. These include mountain biking, hiking, kayaking, and sightseeing. He is well on the way to his ultimate goal of “highpointing” each state in the US, which is the sport of ascending to the point with the highest elevation in a given area. He’s already climbed the highest points in five states, including Colorado’s 14,400-foot-high Mt. Elbert.

He is a proud graduate of the Marine Military Academy in Harlingen, an all-male private college preparatory academy founded on the traditions and ideals of the United States Marine Corps. Tripp went on to get his bachelor’s degree in Power, Politics, Policies, and Society from New York University before returning home to Texas, where he graduated from the Fightin’ Texas A&M University School of Law. After law school, Tripp worked as an assistant district attorney on felony cases ranging all the way from forgery to sexual assaults and murder. In addition to honing his skills as a trail lawyer and advocate, the experience cemented his desire to use his legal career to help Texans that have been wronged by others – the very work The Ferguson Law Firm prides itself on.
