William W. Stanton VII is a Virginia criminal defense and traffic attorney known for his assertive advocacy and strategic representation across the Commonwealth. As the founder of Stanton Law, he is respected for his thorough preparation, courtroom skill, and commitment to protecting each client’s rights and freedom.
Before starting his firm, Mr. Stanton served for more than ten years as a criminal prosecutor in Virginia. His time in that role provided extensive trial experience and a clear understanding of how prosecutors build cases. He now applies that knowledge to identify weaknesses and develop effective defense strategies for his clients.
A native of Richmond, Mr. Stanton graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Richmond’s Jepson School of Leadership Studies, ranking second in his class. He earned his Juris Doctor from the University of Richmond School of Law, where he was a John Marshall Scholar, served on Law Review, and was inducted into both the Order of the Coif and McNeil Law Society. He also received recognition for Advanced Trial Practice.
