Two new Abuse lawsuits filed against Archdiocese of Chicago Posted on July 7, 2015 by Larry Bodine Attorney Lyndsay Markley Chicago – July 7th, 2015 – Two additional men have filed lawsuits against the Archdiocese of Chicago, charging that the defrocked priest, Daniel McCormack, sexually abused them as young boys. Attorney Lyndsay Markley of The Law Office of Lyndsay A. Markley is representing the following two victims: John J. Doe 4, who alleges he was abused by McCormack during his attendance at an after-school ‘SAFE’ program at Our Lady of the Westside Catholic School. The victim alleges the abuse started when he was approximately aged eight in 2002 and continued to 2006. John L. Doe 5, who alleges he was abused by McCormack while attending St. Agatha’s Catholic Church and playing basketball on the Parish’s team. The victim alleges the abuse started when he was approximately aged ten in 2003 and continued to 2006. Markley now represents five plaintiffs in lawsuits against the Archdiocese of Chicago related to allegations of sexual abuse by Daniel McCormack. She filed lawsuits for two of these plaintiffs in April 2015 and for one plaintiff in April 2014, all of which are pending in Cook County. There are approximately 25 additional lawsuits against the Archdiocese of Chicago related to allegations of sexual abuse by its priests currently proceeding through litigation in Cook County. Read the new complaints. John J Doe 4 John L Doe 5 “My latest plaintiffs found the strength to come forward following the news of my earlier lawsuit filings against the Archdiocese of Chicago in April this year,” Markley says. Once again, with these two new cases, evidence indicates that the Archdiocese could have stopped the abuse earlier. Daniel McCormack was arrested in 2005 for the sexual abuse of a minor – yet, after this arrest, he was allowed him to return to his work with children as a teacher, basketball coach and priest. Evidence shows that the Archdiocese received other warnings about McCormack’s behavior during his priesthood, yet failed to take action and, even worse, continued to actively support McCormack in his interaction with innocent children.”
