NH Reaches $40.5M Settlement with Johnson & Johnson Over Opioid Claims

New Hampshire will receive more than $40 million from a settlement over Johnson & Johnson’s opioid marketing in the Granite State.

The settlement comes after the New Hampshire attorney general’s office decided not to join a national settlement deal.

State officials said $31 million from the $40.5 million settlement will go directly to New Hampshire to help with opioid addiction prevention and treatment.

“Really, it’s about these folks who, many of them, became addicted through no fault of their own,” said George Maglara, president of the New Hampshire Association of Counties. “They really need our help to kick the substances and get their lives back in order.”
