A worker who suffered a brain injury after falling down a poorly-lit freight elevator shaft at Kean University nearly four year ago settled his negligence lawsuit for $3 million.
Michael Cupo, then 55, tumbled five feet down the shaft, fracturing his skull, right wrist and suffering multiple facial fractures on May 13, 2016 while he and a co-worker were wheeling a set of doors down a dark hallway in an academic building that was nearing completion on the school’s campus in Union.
