Toyota agreed to pay a $78.5 million settlement to resolve claims its vehicles were equipped with defective air bag control units that could malfunction during a crash.
The settlement benefits current and former owners and lessees of 2011-2019 Toyota Corolla, 2011-2013 Toyota Corolla Matrix, 2012-2018 Toyota Avalon, 2013-2018 Toyota Avalon HV, 2012-2019 Toyota Tacoma, 2012-2017 Toyota Tundra and 2012-2017 Toyota Sequoia vehicles. Drivers can look up their vehicle VIN on the settlement website to check their eligibility.
According to the class action lawsuit, Toyota equipped some of its vehicles with defective air bag control units. These components allegedly malfunction during collisions, preventing the air bags from deploying.
